The resurrection of Jesus calls for His followers to look both backward and forward. It points back to what Jesus has done in history through His life, death, and resurrection, and to the work of God in saving us and raising us spiritually. But at the same time, the resurrection of Jesus points forward to the day when Christ will return, and we will experience ultimate victory over sin and the final consummation of our faith in Him.
