MAYBE THERE REALLY IS SOMETHING IN THE WATER. One year post-Harvey flood, two musicians from Pine Forest Baptist Church travel to New York City to play Carnegie Hall, October 13th with the Singing Men of Texas.
The families of Pine Forest Baptist Church have much to be thankful for. After a long and steady recovery from Hurricane Harvey’s epic 800+ year flood, this southeast Texas community is teaming with pride as citizens emerge from reconstruction efforts. Happy to enjoy Fall with a renewed spirit of normalcy, residents are busy with community events like regular church services, Friday night high school football games and band practices.
In addition to community-wide excitement surrounding Vidor High School’s Homecoming happening in a few weeks, this month, two men from Pine Forest Baptist Church, Dr. Dale Prudhome, head of the church’s thriving Music Ministry and Children’s Ministry, along with Deacon Chairman, Marcus Buckley, will be making a special trip to New York City. These two musicians have been selected to be a part of the Singing Men of Texas performance at Carnegie Hall NYC happening on October 13, 2018. The Singing Men of Texas is made up of music ministers and will use the Carnegie Hall event as a ministry to lost people and to help churches in New York City.
“I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to experience Carnegie Hall with such a talented group of musicians.” stated Dr. Dale Prudhome. “The past twelve months have focused on rebuilding homes and helping our Pine Forest church family with recovery. This trip and performance will be a welcome and wonderful experience.”
“The Pine Forest Baptist Church family has been through the ringer - quite literally - over the past year and I feel like it’s important to acknowledge what an amazing event this is to be a part of. It is a tremendous accomplishment for Dale and Marcus,” Dr. Stephen Dollar, PFBC Senior Pastor added. “I mean, two musicians from PFBC church will play Carnegie Hall next week. That’s a big deal! I’m really happy for them.”
Marcus Buckley enjoys sharing his music as much as he can. As a local freelance musician, he plays with the Beaumont Community Players, Singing Men of Texas and the Community Band of Southeast Texas. Marcus noted, “I never dreamed that I would be playing at Carnegie Hall. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be playing with such a talented group!” A trumpet player since age 11, his music allows him a creative reprieve from the daily stresses of life. A father of three young children, husband and full time ExxonMobil Pipeline employee, Marcus plays regularly with the Pine Forest Baptist Church Orchestra.
